Financing Options
Many working professionals use a combination of federal aid, employer support, scholarships, and flexible payment plans to fund their degree.
The University of Florida offers financial aid for graduate students, including employment and loan programs. Graduate students should begin by applying for aid using the FAFSA. The UF FAFSA school code is 001535.
Degree-seeking students can apply for student loans and learn more about their grant, scholarship, and loan options through our Student Financial Affairs site. Information is available on this site for general graduate students and veterans and military service members.
Important Update: Graduate PLUS Loan Changes
Effective July 1, 2026, the national Grad PLUS Loan Program will end for new borrowers. Existing borrowers who received a Grad PLUS Loan prior to this date for their current graduate program can continue borrowing for up to three additional years or until their program concludes, whichever comes first.

The College of Health and Human Performance awards more than $200,000 in scholarships annually, in amounts ranging from $500 to $2,000 per award. Scholarship applications are open in January and February.
These scholarships are available exclusively to current students who meet the minimum GPA and credit hour requirements. Students may apply once they have completed at least one semester at UF. To learn more, visit the HHP Scholarship page. The UF Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships offers the UF Graduate Grant to a limited number of eligible students each year.
Students can seek financial support from a wide range of public and private sources to help pay for some or all of their tuition and fees. This includes national scholarship search sites like Scholarships.com and Fastweb.com, as well as local community organizations and professional associations.
Grants are need-based funding that you do not need to repay. They are available through different sources.
Loans are funding that you borrow and must pay back. Federal loans tend to offer lower interest rates and more generous repayment plans. Online graduate students at UF are eligible for the Unsubsidized Loans.
Students can also explore private loan options, but should be aware that these sources typically involve high interest rates and strict repayment policies.
The Post 9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33)
The University of Florida has been approved to participate in the Yellow Ribbon program for eligible Post 9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The Yellow Ribbon program is a provision of the Post 9/11 GI Bill® to help defray the cost of out-of-state fees.
The University of Florida will contribute up to $6500 per academic year towards these charges. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will then match the amount of the UF contribution.
Applications will be accepted on a first come-first served basis. Funding is available for 20 undergraduate students and 10 graduate students. For more information, contact Student Veteran Services by email at military-benefits@ufl.edu.
For additional information and eligibility requirements about the program, refer to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Yellow Ribbon Program website.
Montgomery GI Bill® Active Duty (Chapter 30)
These benefits generally apply to veterans who began active duty service for the first time after July 30, 1985, had their pay reduced $100/month for 12 months and received an honorable discharge. Called “MGIB” for short, this bill provides up to 36 months of education benefits to eligible veterans. Generally, benefits are payable for 10 years following your release from active duty.
Montgomery GI Bill® Selected Reserve (Chapter 1606)
This program may be available to you if you are a member of the Selected Reserve for the Army, Navy Reserve, Air Force, Marine Corp, Coast Guard, and the Army National Guard or the Air National Guard. Eligibility for this program is determined by the Selected Reserve components. You may be entitled to receive up to 36 months of education benefits. Your benefit entitlement ends 14 years from the date of your eligibility for the program, or on the day you leave the Selected Reserve.
Veteran Readiness and Employment (Chapter 31)
If you have a service-connected disability that limits your ability to work or prevents you from working, Veteran Readiness and Employment (formerly called Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) can help. This program also known as Chapter 31 or VR&E helps you explore employment options and address training needs. In some cases, your family members may also qualify for certain benefits.
Dependents Educational Assistance (Chapter 35)
The Dependents Educational Assistance Program (DEA) provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of certain veterans (Chapter 35). You must be the spouse OR child of:

- A veteran who died from any cause while such permanent and total service-connected disability was in existence.
