Learn to plan and coordinate sport event competitions by completing an online Graduate Certificate in Sport Event Management. This specialized curriculum is designed for students who are interested in taking charge of everything from local 5k events to the Olympic Games. You’ll explore the complex details that go into running successful events at all scales and build the skills to deliver results for Organizing Committees, Sport National Governing Bodies, and Sport Commissions.
To earn the graduate certificate, you must apply for the certificate and upon approval complete three required courses. All three courses will be offered every fall and spring. The certificate can be completed within one term, if you choose to do so. The credit hours you earn can be applied solely to obtaining the certificate or can be applied to the elective requirement for the online master’s in sport management program.
Students in the Sport Event Management certificate program learn to analyze managerial challenges in sport event delivery and recommend tactics for addressing relevant issues. The courses cover best practices for risk management in sport events, Olympic Games related functional (operational) areas, and management of sport event impacts on the community. Graduates from the program understand how to guide the crucial factors that go into making mega or small-scale sport events a reality and achieving targeted development outcomes for a community.
There are two opportunities to begin the program each year. For our annual academic calendar and application deadline information, please contact an academic coordinator at smonline@hhp.ufl.edu. For your application packet, please prepare and submit your CV and one-page statement of purpose about why this certificate is of interest to you.
